Why Skin Tone Matters
Our fake pregnant bellies are available in a wide range of specially developed skin tones, created to reflect modern standards of diversity and to offer a lifelike match for wearers of all backgrounds. Each colour has been carefully researched, tested and perfected in our UK studio, using skin-safe pigments for both our silicone and foam bellies.
How We Chose Our Colour Range
Inspired by the Google Monk Skin Tone Scale, our ten-tone palette provides a far more inclusive and practical colour standard than the outdated Fitzpatrick Scale. Developed in collaboration with Dr Ellis Monk and introduced in 2022, the Monk Scale offers a thoughtful, research-based framework for representing the full spectrum of human skin tones in both digital and physical products.
As one of the first adopters of this new scale in the prosthetic and costume industry, Moonbump® is proud to be leading the way in creating a more inclusive and customer-focused product experience.

Custom Skin Tone Matching
If you’re looking for a more personalised result, we offer a custom skin tone matching service for your silicone faux pregnant belly. Here’s how it works:
- Add Custom Matching to Your Order
When purchasing your silicone faux pregnant belly, simply select the Custom Colour Matching option. This lets our team know that you’d like us to blend a bespoke skin tone just for you.
- Receive Your Sample Pack
After your order is placed, we’ll post a Sample Pack to you containing real silicone swatches in all of our standard skin tones. These allow you to compare subtle undertones directly against your skin in natural light, helping to determine your ideal colour match.
When your Sample Pack is dispatched, we’ll also email you a link to our secure Custom Colour Match Upload Form, where you can easily submit your photos and colour preferences once the swatches arrive.

- Share Your Colour Match
Once you receive your Sample Pack, please visit the Custom Colour Match Upload Form using the link we emailed to you. The form will guide you step by step through submitting your swatch photos and details, helping us avoid mistakes and achieve the most natural, seamless colour match for your silicone faux pregnant belly.
Alternatively, if you prefer, you may email us the following information instead:
- Let us know which body area you'd like the faux pregnant belly to match most closely — for example, some clients prefer the tone of their belly to match their tummy, which is often lighter than other areas.
- Please specify which swatches appear in each image.
Once we’ve reviewed your swatch choices and photos, our in-studio team will:
- Hand-blend silicone pigments to craft your unique skin tone.
- Cure and test small silicone samples to check for tone accuracy.
- This custom pigment blending process usually takes 2–3 working days.
We will then begin production of your custom colour-matched faux pregnant belly. As soon as it’s ready, you’ll receive an email with tracking details for your parcel.
We retain a small batch of your custom-mixed pigment, so if you’d like to order another faux pregnant belly in the same shade later on, you’ll receive 50% off the colour matching service.

Ultra-Realistic Skin Detailing
Our Silicone Faux Pregnant Bellies are crafted with lifelike, translucent skin-like detailing and a natural matte finish, offering an incredibly realistic look and feel.
The Moonbump® Silicone Pregnancy Belly is available in a broad selection of skin tones, created using the Monk Skin Tone Scale for authenticity and inclusivity.
Each belly is handmade by skilled special effects technicians, with optional linea nigra (pregnancy line) and stretch mark detailing for added authenticity. These details can be customised to your preference, including variations in width, colour, and intensity. We can also create bespoke features such as freckles, moles, or veins (note: veins tend to be more visible on lighter skin tones). Just email us with your requirements at info@moonbump.com.
For those who prefer a plain faux pregnant belly, the surface is designed to safely accommodate powder, makeup, or airbrushing, allowing further personalisation.
Stretch marks and linea nigras typically appear from around five months of pregnancy, though this varies between individuals. That’s why we offer this option across all our Silicone Faux Pregnant Belly sizes. Due to the handcrafted nature of each piece, every belly is one-of-a-kind, ensuring a truly unique and realistic appearance.
Foam Belly Colours
Our foam faux pregnant bellies are available in a carefully curated range of four skin tones. Each shade has been selected to offer realistic and inclusive options, while also accounting for the natural variation that can occur in foam materials. Due to the nature of the material, slight differences in shade may appear between individual bellies — but every piece is colour-checked in our studio to remain within the intended tone range.
Matching Old and New Silicone Skin Tones

Our previous skin tone system featured a simplified palette of five shades (A, B, C, D & E). Since Spring 2023, we’ve introduced an expanded range of ten inclusive tones, designed to offer more accurate and diverse colour matches.
